Low watering. Allow the compost to dry out completely between waterings. Water thoroughly, then allow excess water to drain away. Reduce watering significantly during winter.
Soil
Very free-draining cactus or succulent compost with added grit or perlite to prevent excess moisture around the roots.
Repot
Repot every 2â3 years in spring or when rootbound. Move up one pot size only. Whale Fin Snake Plants prefer to be slightly pot-bound and grow slowly.

Place it in bright, indirect light for the fastest growth, although it will happily tolerate lower light conditions. Don't be tempted to water too often. This plant stores plenty of moisture in its thick leaves and rhizomes.

Most people damage Whale Fin Snake Plants by overwatering. Constantly wet compost can quickly lead to root rot.
