Water
Low to moderate watering. Allow most of the compost to dry out between waterings, then water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain away. Its thick leaves store moisture, so it copes much better with being slightly too dry than constantly wet.
Soil
Very free-draining houseplant mix containing orchid bark, perlite and houseplant compost. Hoyas appreciate plenty of airflow around their roots and dislike dense, permanently wet soil.
Repot
Repot every 2–3 years or when noticeably rootbound. Hoyas actually prefer being relatively snug in their pots, so don't rush to move them into a larger container.

💡 Joe's Top Tip
Give your Hoya plenty of bright, indirect light if you want to encourage flowering and maintain strong silver markings. Once it produces flower spurs, don't cut them off after flowering. Hoyas can bloom repeatedly from the same spur.
⚠️ Common Mistake
Overwatering or repotting too frequently. Hoyas have succulent-like leaves that store moisture and generally perform better when allowed to dry considerably between drinks.

🌿 Plant Fact
Hoya flowers produce nectar and can be surprisingly fragrant, particularly during the evening. Once a Hoya develops a flowering spur, it can use that same spur to produce flowers year after year, so resist the human urge to tidy absolutely everything away.
