Description
Euonymus fortunei ‘Harlequin’, commonly known as Harlequin Euonymus, is a compact evergreen shrub with small green leaves beautifully splashed and mottled with creamy white. New growth can develop attractive pink tones during colder weather, giving the plant year-round interest. Hardy and versatile, it works particularly well in containers, borders and smaller garden spaces.

Moderate watering while establishing. Keep newly planted specimens regularly watered during their first growing season. Once established in the ground, it becomes relatively drought tolerant, although container-grown plants will need more frequent watering during warm weather.

Well-draining, moderately fertile garden soil. It tolerates a wide range of soil types provided the roots aren't left permanently waterlogged.
REPOT
Container-grown plants may need repotting every 2–3 years. Move up gradually in pot size and use a good-quality, free-draining compost.

JOE'S TOP TIP
Plant in sun or partial shade. Brighter conditions generally produce stronger cream variegation. It's naturally compact, but a light trim in spring will help maintain a neat, bushy shape.
COMMON MISTAKE
Don't mistake this for an indoor Euonymus. ‘Harlequin’ is a hardy outdoor shrub and should remain outside throughout the year.

PLANT FACT
