Water
Moderate watering. Keep the compost lightly moist during spring and summer, allowing the top few centimetres to dry between waterings. Reduce watering during winter and never allow the plant to sit in water.
Soil
Free-draining houseplant compost with added perlite to improve drainage while retaining enough moisture around the roots.
Repot
Repot every 2â3 years in spring or when noticeably rootbound. Move up only one pot size at a time and always use a pot with adequate drainage.

Give colourful Cordylines plenty of bright, indirect light to maintain their strongest colours. Keep them somewhere warm and away from cold draughts. They also appreciate higher humidity, particularly during winter when central heating can dry the air.
â ď¸ Common Mistake
Allowing the compost to repeatedly become completely dry. Cordylines prefer more consistent moisture than plants such as Dracaenas and can develop brown, crispy leaf edges when kept too dry.
