PLANT CARE
Everything you need to know to keep your plant happy and thriving.
LIGHT
Medium Light
WATER
Moderate watering. Keep the compost lightly and consistently moist, but never waterlogged. Allow the surface to dry slightly between waterings. Rainwater or filtered water is ideal, as this plant can be sensitive to minerals found in tap water.
SOIL
Moisture-retentive but free-draining houseplant compost with added perlite and orchid bark to provide good drainage and airflow around the roots.
REPOT
Repot every 1–2 years in spring or when noticeably rootbound. Move up only one pot size at a time and avoid disturbing the roots unnecessarily.
HUMIDITY

DIFFICULTY

JOE'S TOP TIP
Keep your Prayer Plant somewhere warm and humid with bright, indirect light. A bright bathroom is an excellent position. Trim longer stems occasionally to encourage fuller growth, and keep it away from radiators and cold draughts.
COMMON MISTAKE
Allowing the compost to dry out completely or keeping the plant in very dry air. Marantas appreciate much more consistent moisture than plants such as Pothos or Philodendrons.
WHEN TO COME BACK TO US
Bring it back (or a photo) in 4–6 weeks if you want: • A plant health check • Repotting advice • Help with crispy leaves • Advice on humidity and watering
PLANT FACT
Prayer Plants get their name from a fascinating behaviour called nyctinasty. Their leaves naturally change position throughout the day and often lift upwards during the evening, resembling hands being raised in prayer.
