Plant Description
Description
Aglaonema ‘Red Valentine’, commonly known as the Red Valentine Chinese Evergreen, is a colourful tropical houseplant with broad green leaves beautifully splashed and edged with shades of pink and red. Compact, bushy, and relatively easy to care for, it’s an excellent way to add year-round colour to homes and offices without relying on flowers.
PLANT CARE
Everything you need to know to keep your plant happy and thriving.

Moderate watering. Allow the top few centimetres of compost to dry out between waterings. Water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain away. Reduce watering during winter and avoid keeping the compost constantly wet.
SOIL
Free-draining houseplant compost with added perlite for airflow and drainage.
REPOT
Repot every 2–3 years or when rootbound. Move up one pot size only.

JOE'S TOP TIP
Give ‘Red Valentine’ plenty of bright, indirect light to maintain its strongest pink and red colouring. It will tolerate medium light, but the foliage may become greener. Keep it somewhere warm and away from cold draughts.
COMMON MISTAKE
Overwatering. Aglaonemas are quite forgiving of occasionally becoming too dry but can quickly develop root problems when left sitting in constantly damp compost.
WHEN TO COME BACK TO US
Bring it back (or a photo) in 6–8 weeks if you want: • Repotting advice • A health check • Guidance before it starts sulking
PLANT FACT
The colourful red and pink markings are part of the foliage itself rather than flowers, meaning ‘Red Valentine’ can provide colour throughout the entire year when given enough light.
COUNTRY OF ORIGIN
Cultivar derived from Aglaonema species native to tropical and subtropical Asia
