Water
Very low watering. Allow the compost to dry out completely between waterings. During the annual leaf replacement (usually autumn to spring), do not water until the old leaves have completely dried and the new pair has fully emerged.
Soil
Very free-draining cactus or succulent compost with added grit, sand, or pumice. Excellent drainage is essential to prevent rot.
Repot
Repot every 3â4 years or when the pot becomes overcrowded. Use a shallow pot with excellent drainage and disturb the roots as little as possible.

When in doubt, don't water. Lithops naturally survive long dry periods, and overwatering is by far the biggest cause of problems. They also appreciate plenty of direct sunlight to stay compact.

Most people damage Lithops by watering too frequently, especially while the plant is replacing its leaves. This can cause splitting, rot, and eventually plant loss.
